Average fertilizer consumption increasing at alarming rate from 115.27 (2008) to 128.02 (2018) kg ha-1. Still nutrient restoration through natural resources and manures is far lower level than the crop withdrawal from soil. Since, fertilizers are expensive inputs in the present system of agriculture, only efficient use of fertilizer will remunerate to the farmers more profit per unit of investment. Hence, it becomes the underpinning for fertilizing crop in balanced proportion and to control nutrient losses from root zone.
